A Red Carpet Event

25 July 2016 by Joanne Bekis

It has been hotting up over the last few weeks and we aren’t just talking about the weather! No, we are talking about Krantech’s red carpet, star studded grand opening of their NEW CNC facility at Colliery House, Colliery Close, Staveley S43 3QE.

A champagne reception was the order of the day, as over 60 Guests travelled far and wide to view the new facility.

The guest list included Krantech’s loyal subsea oil and gas clients, to new clients in the Nuclear and Energy sector. Also in attendance was the Chesterfield Mayor and Mayoress, Vicar of St Marys All Saints Church, along with local banks, funding agencies, local council and educational establishments, who arrived in their droves to enjoy this much anticipated official opening on 20 July 2016.

Formally opening the event, Mel Myronko CEO spoke of the companies journey, the high points and the difficult times during which they embarked with SCR Regional Growth Fund to build a second site, placing them in pole position to take enquiries in for new market sectors as well as supporting their own in-house machining requirements. Discussing openly with all attendees the future plans for the site and where the growth will be. Mel said “It’s been hard work and one of the largest financial commitments of my whole working life, but I’m ecstatic to finally see the hard work and persistence pays off”. Mel then extended his thanks to the main sponsors Robinson Construction, Ruane Transport and Towergate Insurance who have all supported the event and given ongoing support during Krantech’s normal daily business activities and to their supplier sponsors Cromwell Tools and Kyocera Unimerco Tooling Ltd who attended and exhibited.

Martin Wright, Director of Supply Chain at OneSubsea then spoke of their long established relationship with Krantech, a testament to the excellent work and high performance that had been demonstrated over time. Martin said “It is truly an honour to open Krantech’s new CNC facility which will clearly enhance their capabilities and support our ongoing relationship. As a major customer of Krantech, OneSubsea is demanding of high performance and it’s very timely to demonstrate Krantech’s commitment to this by presenting our Silver Award for 12 consecutive months of on time delivery and zero instances of quality defects”. Martin then unveiled the plaque formally opening the new facility.

During the event all the guests enjoyed a tour of the facility from Paul Wright (Director), Steve Myronko (Director), Dave Meadows (Senior Manager) and Jo Bekis (Sales & Marketing). Guests even had an opportunity to take part in some quality inspection testing. The day was a huge success and the Mayor looked to have thoroughly enjoy the event, getting interactive and having a go with the CMM arm that quality inspects manufactured components to precise specification.

Ambitious Year 9 and 10 students from The Bolsover School particularly enjoyed learning about the CNC X, Y, Z axis co-ordinates and how important programming the machines are. Mrs Crossley from The Bolsover School said “It is fantastic that you have invited us as it is a great opportunity for the students to learn more about the world of work and in particular engineering. We have enthusiastic students who are very inquisitive, we would love to arrange another visit and do more partnership working with Krantech in the future”.

Krantech was 2015 winner of the East Midlands Chamber Awards for ‘Best use of Technology’ and runner up for ‘People Development’.
Krantech pride themselves in having a long established apprenticeship programme and it is very important for Krantech to open up their doors to budding Engineers and engage with local schools and colleges to ensure any skills gaps are matched.
It was certainly a celebration day for all at Krantech, their friends, family, suppliers, educational partners, business support agencies, existing clients and potential new clients. What a week for a day in the life of Krantech. Cheers everyone for your continued support.

“Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way to 2016”

22 December 2015 by Krantech

As business in 2015 fast approaches an end, many of you will be winding down! But not Krantech, it is business as usual. Dave Meadows Christmas wish came true with Santa on his way, with a few extra reindeers, direct from the Czech Republic carrying a hefty 32 tonne CNC horizontal boring TOS WHQ on his sleigh. It is safe to say, the reason Dave is smiling so much is because he is receiving the biggest Christmas present of the year. The new machine will sit proud in the new state of the art facility at Colliery Close, Staveley site. Capable of some pretty impressive work 4000mm X Axis, 2500 mm Y Axis, 1250 mm Z Axis, 800 mm W Axis, 360 degree rotary table 0.01 degree increments’ and the new machine foundations are ready for its arrival in January 2016.

Dave Meadows said “I cannot wait to get the new facility up and running and move our existing machining workshop over to Colliery Close. We will see a new market open up to us machining in stainless steel, super duplex and other exotic materials, which I’m very familiar with”.

The state of the art facility at Colliery Close is nearing its completion and has been designed for a later phase 2 and phase 3 development, if required, to accommodate new business growth into sectors such as Nuclear, MoD and Aerospace whilst continuing to compliment the current Oil and Gas clientele.

The New Year will see Jo Bekis relocate to Dubai to look at new business start-up opportunities. Jo has successfully guided Krantech through the Fit4Nuclear process. Putting down the foundations for the nuclear sector and engaging with a couple of future clients. Jo’s replacement, Rob Williams will join Krantech in the New Year and will work closely with Dave Meadows to engage with additional new clients to ensure the success of the new facility.

Mel Myronko said “This year has seen many changes to Krantech, it’s been both challenging moving the business into its next life cycle and fraught with many logistical issues such as work flow, cash flow, new build and new sector break through. We have implemented many new processes and accreditations to suit our new market place clients, but as ever the team are always up for the challenge and we have been determined to succeed where other companies may fail. I’d like to say a huge thanks to all the supporting organisations and individuals that have helped us achieve this and wish all my teams, suppliers and clients a prosperous new year”

The Winner takes it all…

And the winner is….. Krantech Holdings Ltd for Best Use of Technology 2015 East Midlands Chamber Awards. Applause is sound out around the Roundhouse, Derby. The Krantech Team clapping and smiling, then the realisation sinks in that someone needs to collect the prestigious award. As the presenter announced the first winner, moments later Paul Wright spoke up and said “that’s us, come on, we’ve got to get up and fetch the award”. A little star struck by the announcement Mel and the team took to the stage to receive the award and to thank everyone saying “I don’t know what to say, we really didn’t expect that” stated Mel Myronko.
The atmosphere was certainly jovial that evening between the Krantech Team, and the last laugh was most definitely more than becoming winner. An unexpected gift for the Apprentices attending that evening. Moments before the announcement, Steve Myronko made a bold statement “if we win this award, I’ll give all the Apprentices a day off tomorrow”. So true to the Directors word, everyone enjoyed the night, drinking merrily and the Apprentices looked forward to a day off the next day.
It’s been a busy year so far for Krantech with lots of opportunities on the horizon, lots of accolades and awards. With both new ventures and working collaborations being signed and sealed and the footings for Krantech new build underway, Fit4Nuclear grant funding approved and much, much more. Krantech are surely on a winning streak.

Krantech prides itself in having long standing loyal employees. Thursday 9 July see’s Dave Keenan retire age 65, after 50 Years of service to the Engineering Industry. Dave is a most valued employee who will take with him a wealth of Engineering experience. Dave originally worked alongside the Directors from their early days at Thyssen and came to work at Krantech in 2009 during a growth spell.
Dave has experienced a varied Engineering career and made the very first Schieallion ‘Christmas Tree’ in 1998 at Thyssen. Ironically, Dave then went on to make the replacement Schieallion Tree at Krantech in 2014. A testimony to Dave’s long standing career within the Subsea Oil and Gas sector.
Mel Myronko, CEO said ‘All the employees and Directors at Krantech will miss Dave very much, but we wish him well for a happy and healthy retirement and hope that he enjoys his time with his loved ones’.
In contrast to Dave’s retirement, earlier in the month of June, Billy Martin was nominated (along with other nominees) for Apprentice of the Year 2015 by Chesterfield College. Billy being in the very early stages of his career with Krantech, the Directors support Billy and encourage his continued training and career development, following in Dave’s footsteps.

What our clients say

"A Dedicated Team"

OneSubsea have worked with Krantech Holdings from the beginning. During this time they have undertaken a variety of work on time and to budget. One of our recent projects the refurbishment of two PGB’s undertaken was excellent. The Krantech workshop co-ordination and work put behind achieving the successful completion of the PGB’s I don’t think it would have gone so well without the commitment and dedication shown by the Krantech Team. Achieving getting them complete to the required standard by OneSubsea goes to show our working relationship is second to none

"High Standards"

It is great to see companies like yours expanding and investing in additional facilities and workforce and I was very interested to hear about your successful apprentice program. A great achievement.

The quality of work so far has been of the highest standard and the new reporting structure we spoke about for each project will only help to maintain your On Time Delivery performance. Your vision, bolstered by your “can do” attitude will, no doubt, secure business for many years to come
